Jaipur from Delhi: is it a weekend trip?
Jaipur is about 270 km from Delhi and the most popular heritage weekend. The highway is good, and fast trains also make the trip easy.
Two days is enough for the main sights if you start early and group them by area.
Getting there
By road
Roughly five to six hours on the highway via Gurugram. Traffic out of Delhi on Friday evenings can add time.
By train or bus
Fast trains and buses run through the day. Booking early in winter weekends is wise.
A weekend plan
| When | Plan |
|---|---|
| Saturday morning | Amer Fort early to beat the heat and the crowds. |
| Saturday afternoon | City Palace, Jantar Mantar and Hawa Mahal. |
| Saturday evening | Johri Bazaar and dinner. |
| Sunday | Nahargarh or Jaigarh for the view, then the return. |
Where to stay and what to skip
- Stay near MI Road or the old city for easy sightseeing.
- Heritage hotels need early booking in winter.
What you can skip on a short trip:
- Pushkar and Ajmer, which are better as a longer trip.
- A second fort if you are short of time.
