Choose by travel time
A long weekend is short. The most common mistake is picking a destination that takes most of a day to reach, which leaves two days on the ground.
A simple rule is to limit the journey to about four or five hours each way, or to a short flight.
What fits a long weekend
| Travel time | Trip type | Examples |
|---|---|---|
| Up to 3 hours | Day-and-night breaks | Lonavala, Mahabalipuram, Nandi Hills |
| 3 to 6 hours by road | Two nights | Rishikesh, Pondicherry, Coorg, Mahabaleshwar |
| Short flights of 1 to 2.5 hours | Three nights | Goa, Kerala, Andaman, Port Blair, Bhutan from Kolkata |
| Short international flights | Three to four nights | Dubai, Singapore, Bangkok, Kathmandu |
