Why headline prices mislead
Two packages to the same place can look similar and differ by thousands of rupees. The difference is usually in hotel location, meal plan, how you travel between places and what you pay for on the spot.
The goal is to turn each package into the same set of facts so you can compare it fairly.
Compare these eight things
| Check | Questions to ask |
|---|---|
| Hotels | Name, star rating, location and room type. Is the room a standard double or a family room? |
| Meals | Breakfast only, half board or full board? Are meals included on travel days? |
| Transfers | Private or shared? Airport and inter-city included? |
| Sightseeing | Which tours and entry fees are included, and which are optional? |
| Flights | Included or not? Airline, timings and baggage. |
| Visa and insurance | Included, or your responsibility? |
| Group size | Fixed departure with a group, or private? |
| Terms | Payment schedule, cancellation and date-change charges. |

Turn every package into one line
Write each package as: total price per person, number of nights, hotel name and location, meals, transfers, sightseeing, flights, extras to pay locally. If an agent cannot fill a gap, that is useful information in itself.
Divide by nights and travellers. A cheaper package with fewer nights may cost more per night.
Signs a package needs more questions
- Hotel names are 'to be confirmed' or described only by star rating.
- Large 'optional' extras that you would clearly want.
- A price far below every other quote, with no explanation.
- No written terms for cancellation.
Frequently asked questions
Is the cheapest package the best?
+
Not always. Check hotel location, meals and what you pay for locally.
How many packages should I compare?
+
Three to five is enough to see the pattern.
Should flights be included?
+
Either way works. Ask for flights separately so you can compare.
How can QuoteMyTrip help?
+
Post your requirement once, and travel agents can send plans and quotes that you can compare side by side. QuoteMyTrip does not take bookings or payments for trips.
